Ten Years of a Twist — The Story of The Möbius Collection
Back in 2014, a 1.2mm strand of gold—twisted, refined, and reworked over a hundred times—became the very first Möbius strip ring we ever made. Minimalist and quietly powerful, it transformed a profound mathematical symbol—the Möbius strip, ∞—into something intimate and wearable.
It wasn’t just our first piece of jewelry. It was the quiet beginning of YIN.
Ten years on, the design continues to grow—reshaped, reimagined, and lived through time. Just like the Möbius itself:
Infinite, Evolving, Enduring.

1. A Belief That Started It All
“If something doesn’t feel right, don’t just accept it—do something to change it.”
That belief sparked everything.
In 2014, unable to find jewelry that truly met our expectations—thoughtful in design, well-crafted in quality, and reasonably priced—we, Ayur and Dora, left our jobs at global 4A agencies and decided to build something of our own.
We didn’t come from traditional design backgrounds. What we had was a clear vision and a shared instinct:
"Gold jewelry could be mindful, modern, and timeless."
So we started a small independent studio—the earliest version of what would become YIN. Our first creation was a Möbius ring: a slender gold band, twisted with intention, forged with care.
A small beginning, but a significant one.

2. Möbius Strip: Minimal in Form, Maximal in Meaning
The Möbius came to us intuitively—
"a shape that lives at the intersection of science and poetry. "
A strip with two distinct sides, once given a twist and joined, becomes one continuous surface. No beginning, no end. An infinite loop.
In mathematics, it represents infinity. In life, it speaks to the constancy of change, the idea that everything is connected, and that even the simplest form can hold infinite meaning.
From the very beginning, we’ve been drawn to that philosophy—“Less is More.” We’ve always believed in designs that look effortless but speak volumes.
We weren’t designing to impress. We were designing to express.

3. The Challenge of Crafting the First Möbius Strip Ring
But turning this concept into something wearable was far more difficult than we imagined.
We set out to create a Möbius strip ring that was both slender and precisely twisted. After countless trials, we landed on a 120-degree angle—just right to capture the fluid curve of the Möbius form.
But as two newcomers to jewelry-making, we found ourselves knocking on the doors of more than a dozen goldsmiths. With low order volumes and unusually high standards, no factory was willing to take the risk.
Eventually, we found a master goldsmith who was willing to give it a try. After endless revisions, hand-carved prototypes, and quiet determination, the very first Möbius ring was born.
4. Growing with the People Who Wear It
What moves us most is how each piece finds its place in someone’s life. For some, it’s a ring discovered at a turning point—marking a new beginning, a shift in identity, or a quiet decision to choose oneself. For others, it’s exchanged between partners, carrying promises that loop without end. Some receive it as a gift from a loved one far away, a golden reminder of connection that outlasts distance.
The Möbius becomes a part of their story—and in turn, they become part of ours. From city streets to quiet corners of the world, this simple twist of gold has made its way into lives we’ve never seen, yet feel deeply connected to. And that, to us, is the most powerful thing a piece of jewelry can do.
5. Rooted in the Infinite
In the ten years since, the Möbius collection has continued to evolve—growing from a single ring into an entire universe of design.
Since 2014, it has become not only our iconic emblem but also a source of spirit, instilling us with strength and faith:
To live without boundaries.
To explore with courage.
To find the infinite in the everyday.
A decade in, the Möbius continues to accompany us—and those who choose to wear it—on a journey with no final form, no fixed meaning, and no end in sight.
